Topic: How has your life changed since the Pandemic Began?

How to write on the topic- Tips & Suggestions by the Judges
- Keep it Simple yet Creative: Be yourself and express your thoughts as is, don’t pretend to be someone you are not. Explain your thoughts in the most creative way as possible. Think out of the Box when using words and sentences to describe in creative way
- Work with an outline in mind: Every good story has a conflict that needs to be resolved. Fiction writers have to invent conflicts for their stories. Your story has a given conflict: how Covid-19 interfered with your life. You may want to begin by describing your life as it was before the quarantine. For example, maybe you were involved in a sport or going to dance classes or had some other activity that took you away from home to interact with others. How did the quarantine affect you in respect to that activity? Perhaps you were stunned and felt lost because your life changed so abruptly. How did you resolve the issue? Maybe you found a hobby or other activity that you can do at home by yourself and discovered that you had a hidden talent. Next, what would you like the reader to take away from your experience? Maybe you have a message of hope or inspiration or advice that you can convey. A simple outline may look something like this:
- My life before the quarantine.
- How the quarantine affected me.
- How I coped with having to stay home.
- What I learned about myself.
- Show & Don’t Tell: One of the tips that professional writers use is, “Show; don’t tell.” What that means is that you need to involve the reader so that he/she can truly experience what you experienced. A dramatic statement evokes emotion that simply telling cannot accomplish. For example, a simply telling would be “I felt depressed because my life just stopped.” Whereas an example of showing: “My life was in a jar on a shelf too high for me to reach.”
- Creatively express your thought: Instead of simple expressions, try to be more creative and descriptive- For example a simple descriptive/simple Writing could be “ I am unable to go to the school anymore”, whereas a creative expression of the same could be “ It would have been so amazing if I could continue to go to school and enjoy the same day-to-day routine, but unfortunately the mother earth has decided to take a break from us and rehabilitate a little bit. Seems we all have to be confined with gratification as we allow the Earth, our home, to breathe and rejuvenate, while we have to make some important changes in our lives, our approaches towards life, revaluate our priorities and reconnect with our families”.
- Write & Re-write: There is no such thing as a good writer; there are only good rewriters. Let the words pour from your head as they will, and then go over them multiple times. Proofread, edit, and polish your work. Make every word count. Be a perfectionist.
How to submit your Entry
- The write-up once finalized at your end, is to be submitted in word format, as a word document, font size 12 and can be in any font type- Both word document and hand written image can be submitted but the judging would be based on the word document for ease of reading for the judges.
- Stick within the word count for your age groups as follows
Age Group 1- 400 to 500 words & Age Group 2- 500-600 words
- Mention your complete name and age on the Top right corner of the document
- The parent/guardian to fill in and sign the form as found on our website at the address
- Email the Submitted Entry along with the signed and filled form as above, to email address wqtyouthtalent@gmail.com before 15th March, 2021 at 12:00 a.m.
