Surah Al-A’raf – Ayah No. 142-147

Surah Al-A’raf – Ayah # 142-147 (7:142–147)

A.   TRANSLATION

[Quran 7:142] And Wa’adna (وَوَاعَدْنَا) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) S’alas’een (ثَلَاثِينَ) Lailat (لَيْلَةً) and Atamamna (وَأَتْمَمْنَاهَا) with A’shar (بِعَشْرٍ) then Tamma (فَتَمَّ) Meqaatu (مِيقَاتُ) his Rabb (رَبِّهِ) Arba’een (أَرْبَعِينَ) Lailat (لَيْلَةً). And Qala (وَقَالَ) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) to his Akhehi (لِأَخِيهِ) Haarun, ‘Akhlufney (اخْلُفْنِي) of my Quomy (قَوْمِي) and As’lah (وَأَصْلِحْ) and not Tattabe’ (تَتَّبِعْ) Sabeel (سَبِيلَ) of the Mufsedeen (الْمُفْسِدِينَ).’

[Quran 7:143] And to what Ja’aa (جَاءَ) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) to Meqatena (لِمِيقَاتِنَا) and Kalemahu (وَكَلَّمَهُ) his Rabb (رَبُّهُ)? Qala (قَالَ), ‘Rabbe (رَبِّ) Arniy (أَرِنِي) Anzur (أَنْظُرْ) Aleyka (إِلَيْكَ).’ Qala (قَالَ), ‘Never you Tara’any (تَرَانِي) me but Anzur (انْظُرْ) towards the Jabal (الْجَبَلِ). Then indeed, Astaqara (اسْتَقَرَّ) its Makana (مَكَانَهُ). Saufa (فَسَوْفَ) Taraney (تَرَانِي).’ So when Tajalliy (تَجَلَّىٰ) his Rabb (رَبُّهُ) to the Jabale (لِلْجَبَلِ), Ja’alahu (جَعَلَهُ) it Dakkan (دَكًّا) and Kharra (وَخَرَّ), Musa (مُوسَىٰ) S’a’eqan (صَعِقًا). So, when Afaqa (أَفَاقَ), Qala (قَالَ), ‘Subhaanaka (سُبْحَانَكَ), Tubtu (تُبْتُ) Aleyka (إِلَيْكَ) and indeed, I Awwalu (أَوَّلُ) the Momineen (الْمُؤْمِنِينَ).’

[Quran 7:144] Qala (قَالَ), ‘Oh Musa (مُوسَىٰ), indeed, I As’t’afetuka (اصْطَفَيْتُكَ) A’ala (عَلَى) the Naase (النَّاسِ) with my Rusulty (بِرِسَالَاتِي) and with Kalaamity (وَبِكَلَامِي). So Khuz (فَخُذْ) what I have given you and Kun (وَكُنْ) of the Shaakireen (الشَّاكِرِينَ).’

[Quran 7:145] And Kutubna (وَكَتَبْنَا) to him of the Alwaahe (الْأَلْوَاحِ) of every Shayyin (شَيْءٍ) Mu’ez’atan (مَوْعِظَةً) and Tafs’eela (وَتَفْصِيلًا) to every Shayyin (شَيْءٍ). Then Khuzu (فَخُذْهَا) them with Quwat (بِقُوَّةٍ) and Amar (وَأْمُرْ) your Quom (قَوْمَكَ)- they Khuzu (يَأْخُذُوا) with Ahsaan (بِأَحْسَنِهَا) it. Let it Araakum (سَأُرِيكُمْ) you Daare (دَارَ) the Faasiqueen (الْفَاسِقِينَ).’

[Quran 7:146] ‘Let it As’rafu (سَأَصْرِفُ) from my Ayaatey (آيَاتِيَ) those who Yatakabarun (يَتَكَبَّرُونَ) in the Ard (الْأَرْضِ) with Ghair (بِغَيْرِ) al Haqq (الْحَقِّ). And indeed, they Yaru (يَرَوْا) every Ayaate (آيَةٍ)- not they Yuminu (يُؤْمِنُوا) with it. And indeed, they Yaru (يَرَوْا) Sabeel (سَبِيلَ) the Rushde (الرُّشْدِ)- not they Yatakhizu (يَتَّخِذُوهُ) Sabeelan (سَبِيلًا). And indeed, they Yaru (يَرَوْا) Sabeel (سَبِيلَ) the Ghayya (الْغَيِّ)- they Yathakhizu (يَتَّخِذُوهُ) Sabeelan (سَبِيلًا). That is because they Kazabu (كَذَّبُوا) with Ayaatena (بِآيَاتِنَا) and Kaanu (وَكَانُوا) upon them Ghafileen (غَافِلِينَ).’

[Quran 7:147] ‘And those who Kazabu (كَذَّبُوا) with Ayatena (بِآيَاتِنَا) and to Laqa’a (وَلِقَاءِ) the Akhira (الْآخِرَةِ), Habet’at (حَبِطَتْ) their deeds. Will Yujza’una (يُجْزَوْنَ) except what Kanu (كَانُوا) they do?’

B.   THE CONCEPT:

THE CONTEXT

The earlier Ayahs of Surah Al-A’raf continue the story of Nabiy Musa and Fira’un by telling us about the Attrocities of Aale Fira’un. Baniy Israel faced severe punishment, pain, suffering, and trauma due to actions of the people of Fira’un. They were causing discord and imbalance in their communities by engaging in deceitful trade and transactions, focusing on selfish interests and egoistic desires. Baniy Israel’s resourceful and influential segments were targeted by degrading, abusing, and humiliating them, destroying their abilities and resources, whereas they allowed resource-starved and resource-deprived people to survive. The Baniy Israel faced pain and suffering, but their true characteristics were exposed, leading them to abandon their traditions and practices, adopting Allah’s path under their Rasool’s guidance.

Baniy Israel Being Rescued: Baniy Israel, left their traditions, practices and customs to adopt the ways and message of Allah and thus, the same people who were suppressed and weakened by the people of Fira’un, settled globally, receiving inheritance and responsibilities to care for their respective geographic locations, leading to prosperity, good fortune, and success. This is how the message, the rules and commandments of their Rabb were fulfilled by them through discharging their duties, leading to their new situation as being blessed with the best, the most desirable and most pleasing for them.

Efforts of Baniy Israel: Baniy Israel remained steadfast and persistent in order to destroy, cause damage and annihilate three important aspects 1) Everything that Aale Fira’un aimed to achieve and their goals; 2) Shelter, protection, establishment, and shield for their survival and 3) The excuses given to Baniy Israel to revert them back to Aal-e-Firaun, such as Kufar, miserdom and withholding wealth; opposition to the S’alaat and Zakat systems, all their acts which intended to make them oppose Allah’s laws and path and to lead them to a reversion to the path of Taghoot.  Thus, based on these persistent efforts, Baniy Israel were able to establish and strengthen themselves as epitomes of and establishers of Allah’s Deen, harmonizing and connecting people together and with the foundations of Deen, and remaining permanently connected to it.

False Deities- Their Aims and Endeavors: Those from among Aale Fira’un, who were taken up as deities and worshipped sought Nabiy Musa to appoint the same deity as theirs after witnessing prosperous, well-connected communities of Baniy Israel. Nabiy Musa criticized these religious leaders and preachers- the As’naam (false deities) who follow their laws instead of Allah’s, stating that they establish and strengthen people lacking knowledge. These deities promote blind following and submission, fostering illiteracy and a lack of intellect and reason. They encourage people to remain foolish and unwise, without seeking knowledge, oppose Allah’s message and promote absolute falsehood, aiming to create lawlessness, destruction, death, suffering, and divisions among humanity. Their primary goal is to contest Allah’s message, which is the source of all blessings. Nabiy Musa responded to the As’naam’s request for the same deity as Baniy Israel, questioning those who oppose Allah by crossing boundaries, rivalry, and rebelling against Allah’s laws. Allah aims to bless individuals with bounties, guidance, partners, and economic benefits. Nabiy Musa asked the As’naam about sending out Ba’atil and Evil to the world, expecting Allah’s blessings in return. Allah’s system is the embodiment of blessings for everyone, and their actions result in a state of long-lasting Azaab.

CONCEPT OF THESE AYAHS

Ayah 7:142, “And Wa’adna (وَوَاعَدْنَا) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) S’alas’een (ثَلَاثِينَ) Lailat (لَيْلَةً) and Atamamna (وَأَتْمَمْنَاهَا) with A’shar (بِعَشْرٍ) then Tamma (فَتَمَّ) Meqaatu (مِيقَاتُ) his Rabb (رَبِّهِ) Arba’een (أَرْبَعِينَ) Lailat (لَيْلَةً). And Qala (وَقَالَ) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) to his Akhehi (لِأَخِيهِ) Haarun, ‘Akhlufney (اخْلُفْنِي) of my Quomy (قَوْمِي) and As’lah (وَأَصْلِحْ) and not Tattabe’ (تَتَّبِعْ) Sabeel (سَبِيلَ) of the Mufsedeen (الْمُفْسِدِينَ).”

And appointment of recompense for (وَوَاعَدْنَا) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) such transformative, growth and development phase, aspects and periods, which, due to the intense transformation, growth or development requirements, was vulnerable, full of hardship, challenges, demanding and extremely stressful in nature (ثَلَاثِينَ) of darkness at its depth (لَيْلَةً) and bring to completion, discharge duties in accordance with it and fulfilled it (وَأَتْمَمْنَاهَا) with living with them as close companion (بِعَشْرٍ) then and bring to completion, discharge duties in accordance with and fulfilled it (فَتَمَّ) fulfilled efforts in terms of them producing results and duties (مِيقَاتُ) his Rabb (رَبِّهِ)  the most permanent, stable and long terms impacts, wherein they stayed or remained in for a long term (أَرْبَعِينَ) was deep darkness (لَيْلَةً). And reflected from conducts and speech (وَقَالَ) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) to his pillar of strength and support (لِأَخِيهِ) Haarun, ‘Be my khalifa, successor (اخْلُفْنِي) of my nation- those who I am trying to establish and strengthen (قَوْمِي) and reform, rectify, improve, make amends, correct mistakes, rectify lacks and create balance and harmony, restore and create peace, law and order, resume the situation back to where it should belong, making sure individuals and societies are healthy not just physically but right and balanced in all aspects by removing all lacks, deficiencies & mistakes and working within the parameters of Deen-e-Islam (وَأَصْلِحْ) and never follow, lead towards as a follow-up actions and situations (تَتَّبِعْ) to be on the path of (سَبِيلَ) those who create Fasaad- corruption, disorder, disharmony, discord and disbalance in society (الْمُفْسِدِينَ).’

Continuing the discussion of the story of Nabiy Musa, his nation and Aal-e- Fira’un, these Ayahs highlight the jobs and duties of Nabiy Musa, as to what he was appointed for, his response and the divine wisdom/guidance for his endeavors and struggles. Thus, Nabiy Musa was specifically appointed to lead the transformative, growth and development phase for Baniy Israel in order to get them out of the utter and deep darkness, i.e. the declined state of human and moral values that they were in. However, this transformative growth phase was embodiment of intense transformation, and development requirements which were vulnerable, full of hardships, challenges, demanding and extremely stressful in nature. He was assigned to discharge his duties by living with them as close companion in order to bring them out of the deep darkness that they were in. But, when his efforts, in his mindset and perception were not producing results since the Baniy Israel, instead of getting out of this darkness, it became their most permanent form, wherein they remained for a long term; Nabiy Musa lost courage and strength. Thus, he handed over his duties to his pillar of strength and support, Nabiy Haroon, to become his successor and to establish and strengthen his Quom, through acts of Is’lah, reforms, improvements, rectification of lacks and deficiencies in people, restoration and creation of peace, law and order, resuming their situation back to where it should be by making sure individuals and the society are healthy and balanced in all aspects by removing all lacks, deficiencies and working within the parameters of Deen-e-Islam. Nabiy Haroon was also instructed by Nabiy Musa to never let them follow or lead towards as a follow-up actions and situations, to be on the path of those who create Fasaad- corruption, disorder, disharmony, discord and disbalance in society.

Ayah 7:143, “And to what Ja’aa (جَاءَ) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) to Meqatena (لِمِيقَاتِنَا) and Kalemahu (وَكَلَّمَهُ) his Rabb (رَبُّهُ)? Qala (قَالَ), ‘Rabbe (رَبِّ) Arniy (أَرِنِي) Anzur (أَنْظُرْ) Aleyka (إِلَيْكَ).’ Qala (قَالَ), ‘Never you Tara’any (تَرَانِي) me but Anzur (انْظُرْ) towards the Jabal (الْجَبَلِ). Then indeed, Astaqara (اسْتَقَرَّ) its Makana (مَكَانَهُ). Saufa (فَسَوْفَ) Taraney (تَرَانِي).’ So when Tajalliy (تَجَلَّىٰ) his Rabb (رَبُّهُ) to the Jabale (لِلْجَبَلِ), Ja’alahu (جَعَلَهُ) it Dakkan (دَكًّا) and Kharra (وَخَرَّ), Musa (مُوسَىٰ) S’a’eqan (صَعِقًا). So, when Afaqa (أَفَاقَ), Qala (قَالَ), ‘Subhaanaka (سُبْحَانَكَ), Tubtu (تُبْتُ) Aleyka (إِلَيْكَ) and indeed, I Awwalu (أَوَّلُ) the Momineen (الْمُؤْمِنِينَ).”

Ayah 7:144, “Qala (قَالَ), ‘Oh Musa (مُوسَىٰ), indeed, I As’t’afetuka (اصْطَفَيْتُكَ) A’ala (عَلَى) the Naase (النَّاسِ) with my Rusulty (بِرِسَالَاتِي) and with Kalaamity (وَبِكَلَامِي). So Khuz (فَخُذْ) what I have given you and Kun (وَكُنْ) of the Shaakireen (الشَّاكِرِينَ).”

And to what brought to fruition (جَاءَ) Musa (مُوسَىٰ) to fulfill his efforts and duties in terms of them producing results (لِمِيقَاتِنَا) and the words and message of (وَكَلَّمَهُ) his Rabb (رَبُّهُ)? Reflected from conducts and speech (قَالَ), ‘Rabbe (رَبِّ) give me such evidence, as perceived through all my senses, through which is proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated and authenticated through addressing each and every faculty including intellect and reasoning, i.e., done through logical arguments and evidences (أَرِنِي)  as I want to think and watch with vigilant and observational approach, by linking the vision with my knowledge and other aspects already known and by giving undivided attention, and focus (أَنْظُرْ) towards you (إِلَيْكَ).’ Reflected from conducts and speech (قَالَ), ‘Never you will be proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated and authenticated through logical arguments and evidences (تَرَانِي) of me but think and watch with vigilant and observational approach, by linking the vision with your knowledge and other aspects already known and by giving undivided attention, and focus (انْظُرْ) towards your natural instincts, natural disposition and what you brought into being, causing it to exist (الْجَبَلِ). Then indeed, settle down; be emplaced; be fastened; be implanted; be positioned; be rammed; be stationed and be firmly established in terms of being in a situation/place where everything is settled, standing firm, calm and stable and of which there is no doubt (اسْتَقَرَّ) its basic purpose, roles, position, functions, responsibilities, tasks and standing (مَكَانَهُ). Then Then have reached the situation and realized the status that (فَسَوْفَ) you will be proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated and authenticated through logical arguments and evidences (تَرَانِي).’ So when begin to happen, presents itself, become visible and evident (تَجَلَّىٰ) his Rabb (رَبُّهُ) to the natural instincts, natural disposition and what was brought into being, causing it to exist (لِلْجَبَلِ), appoint for duties (جَعَلَهُ) levelling it to the ground (Dakkan) (دَكًّا) and crumbling it, destroying it and make it grow weak (وَخَرَّ), Musa (مُوسَىٰ) got shocked with great surprise (صَعِقًا). So, when was given preference and importance (أَفَاقَ), reflected from conducts and speech (قَالَ), ‘make efforts with my whole being; working hard in quick persistent efforts with full force; struggling and striving towards you with my whole being (سُبْحَانَكَ), I made amends, do acts of Is’lah and turn (تُبْتُ) towards you (إِلَيْكَ) and indeed, I am the first ones (أَوَّلُ) of those who use their intellect to seek knowledge in order to be at utter convinced state with Allah, who are upholders of their covenant with Allah and who are at peace and good will for their surroundings (الْمُؤْمِنِينَ).’

Reflected from conducts and speech (قَالَ), ‘Oh Musa (مُوسَىٰ), indeed, I preferred, raised in status and elevated you (اصْطَفَيْتُكَ) at its maximum and epitome (عَلَى) for the humanity (النَّاسِ) with my message (بِرِسَالَاتِي) and with my Kalam, words of wisdom (وَبِكَلَامِي). So seize and grab hold strongly (فَخُذْ) what I have given you and aim through your acts to be (وَكُنْ) of those who are Shaakireen, who remember Allah’s blessings and then follow the laws of Allah, in state of utter gratitude, who understand and implement the Ayaat of Allah and who learn lessons from stories of previous nations as narrated in the Quran (الشَّاكِرِينَ).’

The earlier ayah discussed how Nabiy musa lost courage and strength and handed over his duties and Khilafat to Nabiy Haroon. Thus, the first phrase of this ayah is a thought-provoking question asking ‘Is this how Musa fulfilled his duties to produce results and brough to fruition the message of his Rab? By handing over his duties to Nabiy Haroon, Nabiy Musa has basically given up on his duties to take his nation out of the complete darkness, while at the same time he continued to seek the divine guidance. He persevered to strive for such evidence, as perceived through all his senses, through which is proven, given evidence of and validated the presence and greatness of his Rabb since he really wanted to observe, think and watch by linking his observation with his knowledge and by giving undivided attention, and focus to seek the divine guidance to his difficult duties and situations. What he received as a divine guidance was that, the only way for him to be shown Allah, given evidence of, and validated the Rabb, is through thinking, observing and watching with undivided attention by linking his vision with his knowledge towards his own natural instincts, natural disposition and what he has been able to bring into existence and have caused to create. Thus, what Allah was asking him was to focus on what he has been able to achieve, since the path to transformation, to taking the Baniy Israel out of darkness is a long, tiring, challenging and difficult path, he has to focus on his own natural instincts and what he has been able to achieve so far. One step at a time, looking at and celebrating the success of each achievement, no matter how minor it is. This is the way to remain steadfast in the face of these challenges in order to establish the message of Allah. Then, once, Nabiy Musa would fasten and implant what he has created; once it is positioned, stationed and be firmly established in terms of being in a situation/place where everything is settled, standing firm, calm and stable and of which there is no doubt, it would be this stage then, where Nabiy Musa would be able to define its basic purpose, roles, position, functions, responsibilities, tasks and standing. This is how Nabiy Musa would have reached the situation and realized the status where he will be proven, given evidence of and validated his Rabb.

When Nabiy Musa began to work on his appointed duty to bring to existence and establish Allah’s message, it became apparent to him that this duty of establishing Allah’s message is appointed to destroy and level to the ground the elements of deep darkness, the moral and ethical decline of the Baniy Israel- crumbling it, destroying it and making it grow weak, Nabiy Musa got shocked with great surprise. Then when he gave preference, taking this divine guidance to focus on what he has created as extremely significant and importance to establishing Allah’s message, was when he turned towards Allah by striving with his whole being, through persistent efforts with full force, by making amends, do acts of Is’lah and became the first ones of the Momineen- those who use their intellect to seek knowledge in order to be at utter convinced state with Allah, who are upholders of their covenant with Allah and who are at peace and good will for their surroundings.

Thus, this was how Musa was preferred, raised in status and elevated at its maximum and epitome for the humanity, due to his persistence, his being steadfast in establishing the Message of Allah, becoming the first of the Momineen and with the help of the message of Allah, and Allah’s guidance and words of wisdom.  Thus, the divine guidance to him and to us, as the addressee of the Quran, is that we should seize and grab hold strongly with Allah’s Kalaam, Message and words of wisdom and become of those who are the Shaakireen, who remember Allah’s blessings and then follow the laws of Allah, in state of utter gratitude, who understand and implement the Ayaat of Allah and who learn lessons from stories of previous nations as narrated in the Quran.

Ayah 7:145, “And Kutubna (وَكَتَبْنَا) to him of the Alwaahe (الْأَلْوَاحِ) of every Shayyin (شَيْءٍ) Mu’ez’atan (مَوْعِظَةً) and Tafs’eela (وَتَفْصِيلًا) to every Shayyin (شَيْءٍ). Then Khuzu (فَخُذْهَا) them with Quwat (بِقُوَّةٍ) and Amar (وَأْمُرْ) your Quom (قَوْمَكَ)- they Khuzu (يَأْخُذُوا) with Ahsaan (بِأَحْسَنِهَا) it. Let it Araakum (سَأُرِيكُمْ) you Daare (دَارَ) the Faasiqueen (الْفَاسِقِينَ).”

And written and made obligatory (وَكَتَبْنَا) to him of the foundation, the main and basic source of all connections, central points and system that connect everything together (الْأَلْوَاحِ) of every power, ability, law, being, earning, process, fact, aspect, event, element and anything which exists (شَيْءٍ) warning, preparing by explaining the pros and cons of doing something which would include creating fear and intimidation about the outcomes, in case of opting for wrong choice (مَوْعِظَةً) and explaining in detail and in a well-diversified manner (وَتَفْصِيلًا) to every powers, abilities, earnings, process, facts, aspects, events, elements and anything which exists (شَيْءٍ). Then seize and grab hold strongly (فَخُذْهَا) them with strength, courage, will-power, abilities and resources (بِقُوَّةٍ) and command (وَأْمُرْ) your nation, those you’re trying to establish and strengthen (قَوْمَكَ)- they seize and grab hold strongly (يَأْخُذُوا) with such things, behaviors, conducts, events, things, etc. which are best, given/received more than one’s Haqq as Inaam-with no expectations in return and are the most desirable, most pleasing to those these are being done/said to, not just to their eyes but to their whole being. (بِأَحْسَنِهَا) it. Let it proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated and authenticated through logical arguments and evidences (سَأُرِيكُمْ) upon you the stronghold, a domination, an iron-grip standing places, aspects, situation, stature and positions (دَارَ) of those who are disobedient ones, who does kufur, conceals haq, lies, who is considered unreliable, to be defiantly disobedient and non-compliant, who crosses the boundaries of the rules, laws regulations and commandments given by Allah in and stays outside and violates these boundaries (الْفَاسِقِينَ).’

This is how, it was made obligatory to Nabiy Musa to create and establish the AlWalaha- the foundation, the main and basic source of all connections, central points and system that connect everything together of every power, ability, law, being, earning, process, fact, aspect, event, element and anything which exists. These acts of Nabiy Musa, based on the Message of Allah is the source of all warnings and preparations by explaining the pros and cons of doing something which would include creating fear and intimidation about the outcomes, in case of opting for wrong choice as well as a detailed explanation in a well-diversified manner of everything that exists. The divine message to Nabiy was to seize and grab hold strongly to this foundation with all the strength, courage, will-power, abilities and resources and command his nation that they should seize and grab hold strongly to it with Ahsaan- such acts, behaviors, conducts, events, things, etc. which are best, given more than one’s Haqq as Inaam-with no expectations in return and are the most desirable, most pleasing to those these are being done, or said to, not just to their eyes but to their whole being. Additionally, this is how the stronghold, domination, iron-grip standing places, aspects, situation, stature and positions of the Faasiqueen- those who are disobedient ones, who does kufur, conceals haq, lies, who is considered unreliable, to be defiantly disobedient and non-compliant, who crosses the boundaries of the rules, laws regulations and commandments given by Allah in and stays outside and violates these boundaries, will be proven, given evidence of, shown and validated.

Ayah 7:146, “Let it As’rafu (سَأَصْرِفُ) from my Ayaatey (آيَاتِيَ) those who Yatakabarun (يَتَكَبَّرُونَ) in the Ard (الْأَرْضِ) with Ghair (بِغَيْرِ) al Haqq (الْحَقِّ). And indeed, they Yaru (يَرَوْا) every Ayaate (آيَةٍ)- not they Yuminu (يُؤْمِنُوا) with it. And indeed, they Yaru (يَرَوْا) Sabeel (سَبِيلَ) the Rushde (الرُّشْدِ)- not they Yatakhizu (يَتَّخِذُوهُ) Sabeelan (سَبِيلًا). And indeed, they Yaru (يَرَوْا) Sabeel (سَبِيلَ) the Ghayya (الْغَيِّ)- they Yathakhizu (يَتَّخِذُوهُ) Sabeelan (سَبِيلًا). That is because they Kazabu (كَذَّبُوا) with Ayaatena (بِآيَاتِنَا) and Kaanu (وَكَانُوا) upon them Ghafileen (غَافِلِينَ).”

Ayah 7:147, “And those who Kazabu (كَذَّبُوا) with Ayatena (بِآيَاتِنَا) and to Laqa’a (وَلِقَاءِ) the Akhira (الْآخِرَةِ), Habet’at (حَبِطَتْ) their deeds. Will Yujza’una (يُجْزَوْنَ) except what Kanu (كَانُوا) they do?”

‘Let it be explained in detail, through diversification and through wide distribution’ (سَأَصْرِفُ) from my signs, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature (آيَاتِيَ) those who are proud and arrogant, who glorify, promote and magnify the materialistic things (يَتَكَبَّرُونَ) on the planet earth (الْأَرْضِ) with other than, without, opposition and in contradiction of (بِغَيْرِ) the absolute truth and justice, due rights and responsibilities (الْحَقِّ). And indeed, they were proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated or authenticated through logical arguments and evidences (يَرَوْا) every signs, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature (آيَةٍ)- not they use their skills to seek knowledge in order to be convinced, uphold their covenant and remain in the state of goodwill and harmony with those around them and (يُؤْمِنُوا) with it. And indeed, they were proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated and authenticated through logical arguments and evidences (يَرَوْا) the path (سَبِيلَ) the sound judgment, sensibility and maturity (الرُّشْدِ)- not they seize and grab hold strongly (يَتَّخِذُوهُ) path (سَبِيلًا). And indeed, they were proven, given evidence of, shown, validated, verified, substantiated or authenticated through logical arguments and evidences (يَرَوْا) path (سَبِيلَ) the misleading, deviating, luring and to astray them as well as to make sure their covenant with Allah is rescinded, quashed, annuled and invalidated (الْغَيِّ)- they seize and grab hold strongly (يَتَّخِذُوهُ) path (سَبِيلًا). That is because they deny, reject, make fun of, ridicule and take as a joke (كَذَّبُوا) with the specifically relevant to them signs, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature (بِآيَاتِنَا) and through their conducts aim to be (وَكَانُوا) upon them those who are unaware of, ignorant, uninformed, oblivious and heedless (غَافِلِينَ).’

‘And those who deny, reject, make fun of, ridicule and take as a joke (كَذَّبُوا) with the specifically relevant to them signs, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature (بِآيَاتِنَا) and to the meeting with Allah for the purpose of (وَلِقَاءِ) the perfect accountability and recompense (الْآخِرَةِ), becoming futile or worthless, come to nothing, miss the mark, stop functioning properly, be fruitless, wasted, be unsuccessful or to fail to bear any fruit i.e., of no avail (حَبِطَتْ) their deeds. Will recompensated (يُجْزَوْنَ) except what through their conducts they aim (كَانُوا) to do?’

The route to this foundation of prosperity, coming out of darkness, bringing out the stronghold positions of the Faasiqueen is through Allah’s Ayaat, since Allah explains in detail, through diversification and through wide distribution, all of Allah’s signs, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature. But those who are proud and arrogant, who glorify, promote and magnify the materialistic things on the planet earth as well as those aspects, people, beings, acts, laws and systems which are other than, and in contradiction of the absolute truth and justice, wouldn’t pay attention to these specific signs of Allah as are relevant to them. Although they were proven, given evidence of and shown through logical arguments and evidences all of Allah’s signs, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature, but they do not use their intellectual skills to seek knowledge in order to be convinced with these signs. Although they were proven, given evidence of and validated the path of the sound judgment, sensibility and maturity, but they do not seize it. Instead, they use their biased understanding and knowledge of their path that they had validated, in order to mislead, deviate, lure and astray others as well as to make sure that people’s covenant with Allah is rescinded, quashed, annulled and invalidated. That is because they deny, reject, make fun of, ridicule and take as a joke the specific Ayaat of Allah that is relevant to them, both from the Kitaab and the laws of nature. This is how, through their conducts and endeavors, they aim to be those who remain unaware of, ignorant, uninformed, oblivious and heedless.

Thus, those who deny, reject, make fun of, ridicule and take as a joke not only the specific Ayaat of Allah that is relevant to them, but also the meeting with Allah for the purpose of their perfect accountability and recompense; for them their deeds and actions becomes futile and worthless and they will be recompensated based on what they aimed to do through their own actions and conducts.

C.    LESSONS AS PER THESE AYAHS:

These Ayahs of Surah Al-A’raf continues the story of Baniy Israel and people of Fira’un as follows

  1. CHALLENGES OF THE TRANSFORMATIVE PATH LED TO NABIY MUSA GIVING UP: Nabiy Musa was appointed to lead the transformative growth phase, full of challenges and hardships, for Baniy Israel, aiming to bring them out of their deep darkness, utter and complete decline of their moral and ethical values. However, his efforts were perceived to be unsuccessful by him, leading to a loss of courage and strength. Nabiy Musa handed over his duties to his pillar, Nabiy Haroon, who was to establish and strengthen his Quom through acts of Is’lah, reforms, improvements, and restoration of peace, law, and order. Nabiy Haroon was instructed to avoid following the path of Fasaad, corruption, disorder, disharmony, and disbalance in society, and to ensure the health and balance of individuals and society.

  1. NABIY MUSA’S CONTINUED SEEKING OF DIVINE GUIDANCE & THE DIVINE GUIDANCE THAT HE RECEIVED: Although Nabiy Musa handed over his duties to Nabiy Haroon, giving up his mission to bring his nation out of darkness, he continued to seek divine guidance, observing his natural instincts, Allah’s Ayaat and Message of Allah. Allah instructed him to focus on his achievements and celebrate each step, no matter how minor, to remain steadfast and establish the message of Allah. Once his creation is firmly established, Nabiy Musa can define its purpose, roles, functions, responsibilities, tasks, and standing. This is where he will be proven, given evidence of, and validated by his Rabb. This divine guidance demonstrates the importance of focusing on one’s achievements and establishing a stable, firm and sustainable environment for the progress of his nation. Nabiy Musa, upon establishing Allah’s message, realized his duty was to destroy the moral and ethical decline of Baniy Israel. He chose to focus on his creation based on Allah’s message and turned towards Allah through persistent efforts, acts of Is’lah, and becoming first ones of the Momineen, who seek knowledge and uphold their covenant with Allah, ensuring peace and goodwill for their surroundings.

  1. NABIY MUSA AS THE FOUNDATION OF THE ALWALAAH: Musa was elevated to the highest status due to his persistence in establishing the Message of Allah. Nabiy Musa was obligated to establish the AlWalaha, the foundation for all connections and systems. These acts, based on the Message of Allah, provide warnings and preparations, explaining pros and cons of actions, and providing detailed explanations. The divine message instructed Nabiy Musa to seize and hold onto this foundation with strength, courage, and resources, commanding his nation to act with Ahsaan, desirable behaviors, and actions. This will bring out and show the stronghold and domination of the Faasiqueen, those who disobey Allah’s rules and regulations. Thus, the path to prosperity, to come out of darkness as well to expose the stronghold positions of the Faasiqueen is through Allah’s Ayaat, which outlines all signs from the Kitaab and natural laws.

  1. THE ACTS, ENDEAVORS AND RECOMPENSE FOR THE MUTAKABBAREEN: Those who are proud and arrogant, who glorify materialistic aspects and contradict absolute truth and justice often neglect the specific signs of Allah relevant to them. Despite being proven through logical arguments and evidence from the Kitaab and natural laws, they do not use their intellectual skills to seek knowledge. They deny, reject, ridicule, and take the specific Ayaat of Allah relevant to them as a joke, aiming to remain ignorant, uninformed, oblivious, and heedless. They exploit their limited understanding and knowledge, their validated path to deceive others and invalidate people’s covenant with Allah, using biased knowledge to mislead, deviate, and astray others. Denying and ridiculing specific Ayaats of Allah relevant to them, Allah’s message and meeting with Allah for accountability and recompense renders actions futile and worthless and they will face the consequences of their actions sooner or later.
